Your 2024 Patronage (cash and equity) is displayed in your Member Earnings bubble. On January 16, 2025, the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return will move into your Bonus Cash Bubble, and can be redeemed in Food, Wine Spirits Beer stores, on fuel and car wash purchases made at the pump and at Home Health Care locations. You can also watch your estimated 2025 Patronage earnings accumulate in the Member Earnings bubble. Your T4A will be available in your online account on January 6, and your 2024 Share Ownership Statement available in your online account on January 16. Register and download the Calgary Co-op app before 10:59 pm on January 12,2025 to receive the cash portion of the 2024 Patronage Return as Calgary Co-op Bonus Cash on January 16. You will also instantly receive $5 in Bonus Cash just for downloading the app. (Please see full terms and conditions)
New members: If you register and download the app after January 12, you will receive the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return in the app approximately one week after download.
Members who already have registered verified online accounts: If you download the app after January 12, you will still receive the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return as an E-transfer in February 2025, as you are already in the system to get your return this way. Next year you will receive the cash portion of your 2025 Patronage Return in the app as Calgary Co-op Bonus Cash.
Your T4A will be available in your online account on January 6, and your 2024 Share Ownership Statement will be available in your online account on January 16. Access through your app, or log into mycalgarycoop.com to download these documents.
Download the appIf you do not have the member-exclusive app you can receive the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return in February 2025. Please ensure you take the following actions:
Register and verify an online account: If you haven’t already, please register for an online account at mycalgarycoop.com (or verify your existing online account) and we will e-transfer the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return at the end of February.
If you have already registered and verified your online account, you do not need to do it again this year.
Don’t have online banking? Sign up for online banking with your financial institution to ensure a seamless transfer of the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return. Or contact our member engagement at 1-833-310-0095 or memberengagement@calgarycoop.com to arrange for an alternate payment method.
Your 2024 Share Ownership Statement will be available in your online account at mycalgarycoop.com on January 16, 2025
No problem. We’ll work directly with our members who do not have any online capability to ensure they receive the cash portion of their 2024 Patronage Return in early March. If you contacted us last year and received a cheque for your 2023 Patronage Return, you do not need to take any action this year. If you are eligible for a return, it will be mailed to you with your 2024 Share Ownership Statement. If you did not contact us last year to arrange for a cheque, please call 1-833-310-0095 to verify your information for your 2024 Patronage Return and T4A processing.
Businesses and charities with Calgary Co-op memberships need to register for an online account at business.mycalgarycoop.com and upload a Direct Deposit statement from your financial institution which will be verified by our Member Services team. An EFT will be arranged by Calgary Co-op in January to deposit the cash portion of your 2024 Patronage Return directly into your bank account.
As we continue to evolve and modernize our co-operative, we have changed how patronage is paid and equity is structured to make it more 1) simple 2) immediate and 3) transparent.
We have 1) simplified our equity tiers from 11 to 3, to allow members to earn cash faster, 2) receive it as a lump sum earlier each year in the Bonus Cash Bubble of their Calgary Co-op app and 3) see it accumulate in the app throughout the year in order to connect with the value of shopping at Calgary Co-op. In a nutshell: it’s more cash paid out to you sooner at a time when our members need it the most
As a Co-operative we must manage our operating expenses to maintain our patronage levels. As costs are going up everywhere, we can keep our patronage rates strong through innovate tools like this app.

T4As are only issued for Patronage Returns over $100. Calgary Co-op is required by federal government tax regulations to report patronage returns paid to a member in excess of $100.00 and to with hold 15% of the dollar amount over $100.00.
Patronage Return on Purchases for Personal Use
If the patronage return you earn as a member is for personal use such as groceries, household items, and fuel for private vehicles, it is not subject to tax.
Write “Consumer Goods Only” across the front of the T4A and do not include the amount of the patronage return in your income on your tax return. You can claim the withholding tax amount as a credit as tax paid when you file your personal income tax return.
Patronage Return on Purchases for Business Use
Patronage returns are taxable for business persons, farmers, contractors, etc. who purchased goods for business use and used the cost of the goods to reduce their taxable income. If this applies to you, then the patronage return earned on the goods purchased is taxable and you must include the amount in your income on your tax return. The amount of the withholding tax can be claimed as a credit as tax paid.
