About The Cheeses
Introducing the distinguished “Ancient Kyiv”, a cheese aged to perfection, boasting flavours and creamy textures reminiscent of a medium Gouda. Alongside it, we present the delightful “Ukrainian Cheese,” a young Gouda with a softer, milder profile that’s sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Straight from the heart of Ukraine’s Poltava region, approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Kyiv, these cheeses carry with them a story of resilience and courage. Produced amidst the backdrop of conflict, the dairy where they are crafted has stood strong despite being in the direct path of numerous missile and drone attacks.
Every step of their journey to our shelves has been an adventure; From military escorts to blockades. It’s an honour for us to showcase these remarkable cheeses to our valued Calgary Co-op members.
